Role: Motion Designer and Art Director
Spectrum News
Each home game at Tropicana Field featured a weather segment from Spectrum Bay News 9. I was tasked with creating an exciting open that thousands of fans would see each Tampa Bay Rays home game.
The idea I had envisioned with this project involved a radar-like environment in which you would see a baseball traveling through and passing by iconic location structures to arrive at a 3D Tropicana Field. The baseball would open up to reveal a mechanical weather board that eventually the Meteorologist would walk into frame and stand beside.
The challenge was creating an impactful animation and also modeling each iconic location, including a visually accurate stadium model, in a very short timeframe as the home opener was not far away.
The end result was well received and was seen by many spectators throughout 81 regular season home games.
